Dragon Boating in the heart of the Hunter Valley

Why dragon boating?

  • to keep fit
  • to be social and make friends
  • to enjoy the buzz and adrenaline rush of the regattas
  • compete in regattas locally, within NSW or Australia and occasionally internationally – it’s up to you
  • enjoy regular social and fundraising events

Current training schedule

  • Thursday – 5:45pm for 6pm on the water
  • Saturday – 6:45am for 7am on the water
  • Sunday – 6:45am for 7am on the water
  • Sunday – 8:45 am for 9am on the water – This is a Technique Session focused especially for newer paddlers or those who want some extra time and focus on the water

* times subject to change during the Winter months

What equipment will you need

  • Clothing that may get wet – it’s a water sport!
  • Enclosed shoes, water shoes – NO THONGS
  • Life vest if a non-confident swimmer
  • Paddle and gloves (optional) – although we do have club paddles you can borrow
  • Water bottle, sunscreen and hat

How to join our Hunter River Dragons club

STEP 1 – Come along to up to five (5) FREE training sessions (if you then want to join, let our coach, or another club member know)

STEP 2 – To become a member you must first register with DragonBoatsNSW (DBNSW) which is our governing body

– To pay your DBNSW fee please follow this Registration Link

– The DBNSW fees are paid when you register online at the above link – 1st July to 30 June 2024 Pricing structure:

  • Adults over 24yrs of age = $120.00
  • Young Adult from 18yrs to 24yrs = $96.00
  • Junior from 10yrs to 17yrs = $60.00

– The above fee structure is for registration with DBNSW. Hunter River Dragons will receive your registration information and a club invoice will be emailed to you, the club fees are the same as above.

STEP 3

– We use Stack Team App for our training schedule, our regatta attendance, and most club communications
